Furnace tune-ups for SAFETY and EFFICIENCY

Be alert to the DANGERS of Carbon Monoxide - Carbon monoxide (CO) is an odorless, colorless, tasteless, gas that is very poisonous and potentially fatal if allowed to accumulate. One way that this can happen is if your gas furnace isn't properly maintained or adjusted. Products and equipment powered by internal combustion engines such as portable generators, cars, lawn mowers, and power washers also produce CO. Regular service of your furnace will ensure it is working properly, efficiently and safely. Additionally, experts recommend installing a carbon monoxide alarm on each floor. Plug carbon monoxide alarms into electrical outlets or directly wire them to the electrical system. Do not install them in utility rooms, garages, kitchens or bathrooms. If you already have carbon monoxide detectors, be sure to test them twice a year when you test your smoke detector and change batteries.
